Change of pace
I went to the Linux conference dinner tonight, with Ada and Rodger. It's weird to see people one hasn't set eyes on in over a decade. Even weirder when Rodger and I both know someone, but he doesn't know we're together (it's our fourteenth anniversary in a couple of months).
Ada stood up to the late night pretty amazingly. We left at around 9.30, after three hours of mostly adult conversation, and she just didn't cause any problems.
Nice to go somewhere my taste in Tshirts gets happy looks, rather than puzzled (I don't care what you think: Lovecraft is cool), and where people who don't have kids with them are happy to see my one, as long as she's appropriately behaved (much gratitude to the wonderful woman with the pink-purple hair who gave Ada a ride!).
