Weekly Facebook Profile Image & Endangered Species Bio

Jun 07, 2008 11:04

Each week I'll be creating another graphic for my Facebook profile using one of the endangered or threatened species that live in Camden County, NJ.

In addition, I'll be putting together a short "Autobiography" of each creature, written in mega-simple English.

The first post:

I am a tiny turtle. One of the tiniest in the world!

From front to back, my shell is only 3 to 4.5 inches long!

To give you an idea of how small I am: a baseball has a 3 inch diameter and a softball's is 4.5", :1.

I like to hang out in sunlit marshy meadows, spring water seepages, wet cow pastures, and bogs. My favorite spots are where there are narrow, shallow, slow-moving little rivulets of water running around me.

I hibernate from November to March, otherwise I like to goof off and poke around for tadpoles, slugs, snails, worms, and insects, which I love to eat. Mmmmhmmm, slugs... Heh.

Information from eNature.com and the New Jersey Field Office of the Fish and Wildlife Service

UPDATE;

I then later rewrote the biography to be this.  I don't think I like either, but I do want a combination of both humour and child-like simplicity:

I am a tiny turtle. One of the tiniest in the freaking world!

From front to back, my shell is only 3 to 4.5 inches long! Do you understand how small that is??

Did you know that a baseball has a 3 inch diameter and a softball's is 4.5" ?

Did you know that if you hit me with a bat I would definitely die? :(. It's true.

I like to hang out in sunlit marshy meadows, spring water seepages, wet cow pastures, motorcycle bars and bogs. My favorite spots are where there are narrow, shallow, slow-moving little rivulets of water running around me, to take the stink away.

I hibernate from November to March, otherwise I like to goof off and poke around for tadpoles, slugs, snails, worms, and insects, which I love to eat.

Have you ever eaten snails? You're an idiot if you haven't. They're delicious

Please comment with ideas on the concept or particular changes for making this bio and others better. Yar, thanks

and then caring, hopefully this will engender familiarity, family ties
