Games: Castle Crashers

As I mentioned before, I bought an xbox 360. I think I am now dating it due to the sheer amount of time I have spent with it in the past month. Look forward to save-the-date cards with Mr. and Mrs. Johnstone-360 in the near future.

That being said, there are many great titles that I need to play through. I finished Halo 3 on legendary (with a little help from my friends), got the "completionist" achievement on Mass Effect, and the Chewnicorn on Viva Pinata. I have started GTA IV, BioShock, Assassin's Creed, Forza 2 and Too Human.

So what game do I chose to play?

Castle Crashers!

Castle Crashers is a beat-em-up with RPG elements. By elements, they mean you can collect swords and pets. I've had a fabulous time playing the game, mostly due to the four player co-op.

The game is 1200 microsoft points ($15 American) and it is well worth it. Even one play through is about 3 hours with a friend. Each play through with a different character nets you a new unlockable character, so the replay value is nice. Along with the xbox live co-op, you can also play arenas against other characters online. I won't talk about the "all-you-can-quaff" mini game because it hurts my fingers.

The positives being said, there are a couple of things I don't like about the game. The lack of level cap means that at level 78 (I believe) you can max out all four stats (Strength, Magic, Defense, Agility). It completely destroys the concept of making a balanced character. Secondly, your saved games are attached to your console settings - this means that if you take your HD to a friends house you have a chance of over writing your saved game. Finally, and the most important thing, if you're going to release a game that promotes four player co-op, PLEASE TEST YOUR NETCODE!!! While playing with friends the most heard phrase is "EXIT TO THE MAP" because that is the only way you can save. Painful.

I do love this game and think it's worth the money. There are parts that had me rolling with laughter and many of the fights are challenging.

I also really enjoyed collecting the animal friends :3

* I did not make the dancing knights and I have no idea who did. If you know, please tell me so I can credit them.
