First off, everybody should check out this amazing feat of artistic ability and religious fervor at www.thebricktestament.com. It’s bible stories illustrated with Legos!
Secondly, yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day. There was a little parade in the city hall square with Irish dancers, bagpipers and the like. So I checked that out with Grace. We got hot dogs as well. Which I don’t think I’ve mentioned much about, but there’s a large population of hot dog stands all over the place in Copenhagen. Later that night we went to an Irish pub, which of course was crowded, but we did some reveling…drank a guiness, tad bit o’ dancing and singing along to elvis songs, ‘pianoman’, and ‘brown-eyed girl.’ Nothing crazy, but probably the most celebrating I’ve done for the holiday. Oh also made pistachio bread…because it’s green…st. patrick’s day…it works.
At this moment, I kind of feel like I’m in the home stretch of this trip. I look at my calendar and basically every week is planned out, or I have some idea of what I can fit in before I leave. Plus the weather has been changing. Winter is gone, and the weather is becoming more like what it was when I first arrived here. I must admit I’ve been thinking a lot about what it will be like to return and what I need to do when I do get back.
I’m thinking of doing University Orchestra next fall. Grace recommended it. You don’t have to audition or anything and it’s just once a week. I think it might be fun to bust out my cello again and do that. I’ll need to keep myself busy when I get back to Madison to avoid long periods of staring into space wondering what I’m doing in my life and how I hate most of the college trash that attends UW-Madison.
I’ve instituted a new rule on myself…no naps, unless I get less than 7 hours of sleep the night before. I average about 8-10 hours of sleep a night. So naps are kind of unnecessary and if anything they deter me from getting a good night’s sleep.
I saw two Danish films this week with my Danish Cinema class. I find watching films and learning about them is pretty interesting. I’d love to write a bit more on here about what we’re learning, because I feel rather “me me me” on this journal stuff, but I don’t want to bore my readers either…so just holla if you want to hear more…
