Ever get irritated that you have to explain yourself as to why something makes you happy? That happened to me yesterday. I was happy to have the day off and doubly excited when my mother asked me to join on her some shopping errands. I was extra happy when I got my paycheck and realized that there was about $130 extra on it - I was curious as to why at first and then I realized that I had some overtime for working late. YEAH FOR ME because it bought me this straightening iron for my hair that I've wanted for YEARS, some luscious leave-in conditioner for my hair, and oodles of goodies from Bath and Body Works since it is their semi-annual sale. I had sooo much fun; hated to see all the money go, but oh well - you can't take it with you. BUT BACK TO THE REAL STORY HERE! My mother asked me what I was doing later in the evening. I told her that I had to help Cameron around the farm, so I wasn't sure what that entailed. But I did mention that later in the evening, we were going over to one of our smaller corn fields to watch the lightening bugs. She looked at me, blinked a couple of times, and then asked, "What did you say?" I told her again that we were going to wait until it got dark and watch the lightening bugs come out. She just stared at me as if I had lost my mind and within 5 seconds, changed the topic. Doesn't she realize that it's the small things that matter most? I was just thankful to have some alone time with Cameron, even if it sitting in silence, watching the glowing butts of an insect.
