It works! It works!
As anyone who's on irc knows I've spent the last three weeks or so swearing over modern technology. It all started when I *cough* accidentally dropped my pc - this is why cleaning is a dangerous and bad thing to do. So I had a literal computer crash. Turned out it knocked some RAM out of place and basically fried the mobo. So I had to get a new mobo, which was good, except I bought one without integrated VGA and didn't realise this until everything was installed (yeah I'm a doofus) so then I had to buy a graphic card, which I guess was a good thing - I never buy anything new until I'm forced to do so - with tv-out. So I figured I'd be able to watch my divx/avi files on my telly - which is also a really good thing, since I hate watching things on the computer and thus haven't really dl any eps lately since converting to mpeg is too much bother plus loss in quality. So I bought a cable and still couldn't get the ¤"/(#)%/¤% thing to work, not even after I bought a SCART connector and hooked it up to my vcr. Oh I could see my desktop on the telly but no icons, nada. I was bitching and moaning about it all over irc last night in two channels :-) when a beautfiul and kind person on #primenotprime wychwood pointed me to a link where I could finally figure out what's wrong. And last night I finally got it all working. Sound, picture, everything! And I spent the evening happily watching six straight eps of Cold Case after which I reeled off to bed far too late in a daze. And once I get my receiver back from the repair shop - yeah I even after more than two months got that sent it - I'm all set.
In other news flambeau dragged me off to see the world premiere of 'A Sslogoth on the Roof' which was amazing and fantastic great fun, though I have to admit it was the first musical I'd attended where you couldn't really see the difference in clothes between the cast and the audience - black was definitely de regieur.
Update, in even happier news Serenity is now officially up on the Sandrews website as premiering on the 25th! Yahoo!!!
Life is defintely worth living at the moment.
