July, July!

Things are busy. Things are always busy now, I feel like I have no veg out time left. Most of it is of my own making, but I find it hard not to want to do things. This weekend I have to finish a funding application to plan a training course for PhD students in November. That's reasonably fine. On Monday I'll finish the snails from a site in Orkney, and then have to write that up and then begin my next Hebridean site. I'm also planning a talk for an archaeology event in a pub later this month, and practising mandolin to play with my ex-colleague K, who will be singing and playing guitar after the talks. I should write the website for that event. As soon as that's over there's family activities in the National Museum of Wales I'm helping to run. Then I'm off to Spain, which is actually pure recreation (catch-up recreation I'd say), then planning a gig in Bristol, then off to a conference in Paris, at which I'm presenting a paper and a poster (neither finished). Then off to the Hebrides for another paper presentation. At some point I'm expecting a load more snails to arrive too, and all of this is outside of my real job. Busy busy busy. Today (at last) a day of rest, I'm off to the St Pauls Carnival, although the temptation to run up to Bristol University library to check out a couple of book chapters is looming large.

work, school, busy, ph.d.
