Sometimes the things you want to say are not the best thing to be saying, as I'm sure all of you have learned.
I gave two of my Eddie Izzard CD's to a coworker who was recovering from back surgery and was therefore laid up for quite a while, bored out of his mind. (They were just burns, but all I had). I've been having some trouble going to sleep without listening to Eddie at night, and I realized that should I ever meet the man, saying "Oh I love your routines, they put me to sleep every night" would not be the wisest or kindest statement to make.
The reason, of course, is more along the lines that they make me laugh, get my mind off of whatever problems I'm having and put me in a better mood, thus making it easier to relax and fall asleep. Also, any kind of book on tape has the same effect- listening to one person talk puts me straight to sleep. Long lectures in college were a blast, as you can imagine. =P
So I broke down and ordered 4 cds, happy birthday to me, and all that jazz. Another week and maybe I can get some better sleep.
