sorry about the long wait for an update and what not. i'll try and clue you in on what's kicking in my life right now without boring you too much.
lay-offs, management changes, and the like are all done at work. i still have a job. my boss has a new boss, which means i have a new boss's boss. i met with him for about a half an hour yesterday and that was okay.
erin and i are closing on a house next friday (the 28th). it's down in a very nice part of norwood and we're both quite happy about it. the whole process has been a bit stressful for any number of reasons but soon it will be over except for the 30 years of mortgage payments. sweet! it's a nice old 5 bedroom home, built around 1910, and it should give us plenty of room to play around with. there's lots of old beautiful woodwork, a third floor where i'll likely have an office; erin's will be one level directly below mine. i'm excited and nervous about this all at the same time. but it all feels right and it's going to be most excellent not to have to live in an apartment any more. i won't move into the place until february, but it will be good to have the extra time to get a bit of work done around the house.
holiday party last week and lots of people got drunk. there are times when you just feel embarrassed for other people.
matt and i are due to start work on another screenplay. we plotted some points out last friday at reisters over two pitchers of beer. more writing tonight and hopefully we'll have something lined up.
i've been reading a lot of bret easton ellis lately. i really like his writing style. i read american psycho a few years ago and just recently started reading glamorama and the informers. there's something about the way he writes that i find incredibly inspiring....it's not necessarily the content, it's more the way he puts the story together. and usually you don't much care for the narrator (patrick bateman in the former was a serial killer; victor ward in the latter is a snobby, womanizing asshole) but you're still interested in what happens to them.
so this wasn't that exciting of an update after all. sorry about that. i'm also sorry i haven't seen a lot of you lately. i promise that will change once this house stuff settles down.
