Its been a while since I've been on here, so I figured I'd post some new crunchy details:
- holidays: We had a superfun x-mas/giftmas/pagmas/festivus this year. I got a supercool ipod from kel which is sooo much better than the one that broke. Its also green and has 16 GB on it. Its funny, I remember when my dad got our first hard drive for our Apple IIgs. The thing was this foot long, three-inch wide and eight-inch tall monolith dedicated to the storage of the collective knowledge of mankind. And it stored about 10 megs. but I digress...We spent the holiday with my sisters and my new(ish) pseudo-sister (aka trisha's bff roomie). We had awesome steaks and taters and made a half-hearted attempt to get wasted, but fell asleep watching Commentary! The Musical instead. Then, we went to see Marley and Me after waiting in line for almost two hours (Really, two hours for a friggin' lab?) But at least we were all buzzin on a mad sugar high from movie candy so it was lots of fun. BTW (spoiler), they kill the dog at the end with a herring (some of that may be made up). Missed the rest of the family a lot, but at least we had our own thing this year. I do enjoy the fact that our holidays consist only of the kiddie table. all in all, a good x-mas/giftmas/pagmas/festivus.
- stupid half marathon: apparently everyone in socal runs the carlsbad half...and we're too late registering. Don't worry though--well find a different one to run. I also found that that there are some "easy" triathalons here: .6 swim, 12 bike, 6 run. I can totally do that! If anyone else wants to totally do that, we should team up and totally do one!
- cruise: the fam is coming out in mid-jan for a super fun cruise in lieu of a big family christmas. were gonna head around baja for about 4 days or so. that'll be superawesome; we miss those guys. plus, outside of kel, the rest of us have the tolerance of a hamster. so I imagine the whole trip will be kel with my drunken family. maybe I should rethink the whole camera-as-gift idea.
- trial!: I have a mini-trial coming up in mid-january. that'll be awesome. totally righteous client (its a sad story that couldn't have happened to a nicer guy), and a skeezy defendant. the tricky part is that the law is a bit grey on this one, so even though we have the "equities" (aka righteousness) on our side, the law may end up cutting against us. oh yeah, and its an appeal from a small claims action, which means that the rules of evidence are relaxed, giving a tribunal type feel to everything. we'll see how it goes, but it would be great to follow up the last win with another. btw, the defendants from the last win STILL think they don't have to pay our clients, even though the court said they were unreliable and untrustworthy (actually, that makes perfect sense). so now we get to go across the nation taking their assets, state by state. hopefully there should be some good stories coming out of this--i'll keep yall posted.
I think i'm done here. plus its time to work.
