End of this chapter in my life
Welp, it is over.
After 8 years and 4 months, I am now offically unemployed. No, I wasn't layed off... or fired really. My position was eliminated.
This is the thanks I get for working for a company that swings its axe clear across the country.
It isn't too different to that commerical where the guy gets fired over the phone... except it wasn't over the phone. At least it was done in person... well the messenger was anyway.
Kinda interesting thing was, I was probably one of the least surprised person by this. My hint was the fact that the corporate web site posted a job description what was pretty much describing my job, word for word...
Yet they tell me my position was eliminated.
Something doesn't jive here.
In a way I am amused.
Corporate was pushing for me to document all my programs... only I got maybe one third of it done. The company has a lot of code running in the office, and the only person who really knows how it all works, just got the sack.
Also, the members of management who do know me... My bosses and office co-workers are now terrified.
In the way I am saddened.
I now have lost a lot what I have worked for... My benefits, and a lot of respect for some people.
Also the fact that I can't spend the day I could with my honey like I used to.
Well... Now that I'm gone, I expect to see things start to crash and burn, and since I'm not there to put out the fires, customers who are already threatening to leave if one more thing goes wrong... welp... it's no longer my problem.
At any rate, if anyone knows of anyone who needs a highly skilled programmer, let me know.
Oh speaking of which... now that I have some free time... I'm willing to teach anyone who is interested in learning programming, or anything computer related. For a small fee mind you. I'll do it cheap and negotiable.
