Me, Chris, and Marshal departed for our Ocoee adventure this weekend! We just got back this afternoon; it overflowed with awesomeocity! We stopped in Chattanoga for some of the best Ribs we've ever had at Sticky Fingers, agreed that Memphis Wet was the best kind, then... finally arriving at the Nanahala Outdoor Center camp, where all the guides and related peoples stay all summer. Carl tried his best to eat our frisbees, but his best strides were thwarted.
Every night they all gather around a huge bonfire, drink, sing Johnny Cash, and be merry, so it seems.... First day out, we got to see some rafts go down the Olympic section of the river, and 4 crews that got fliped over in the rapids, hilarious and great =^) ...and hiked for 4 or 5 miles in search of these waterfalls.... we certainly found them, freezing as hell, but after a little while of getting used to it.... was delicious. We jumped off the 15 foot ledge into the 5 feet of water (with rocks at the bottom) at the first water fall, and climbed up the other 3 that we found...
Second day we finally got to go rafting with Marshal's friends that were guides... so rockin I tackled one of the guides off another raft "sorry man, they told me to do it...." haha Everyone got a kick out of that... no hard feelings either. We were exhausted after the rapids and such, so we just hung out at the top of a nearby mountain that we drove to the top of and caught some shooting stars....(with a baseball mit of course)... saw the One Red Light in the neighboring town, and lots of different groups of firework enthusists giving their two cents for our Nation!
Lately I can't stop listening to "Come on Feel the Illinois"
Sufjan Stevens is addictive...
I mean, orchestrated sections, chorus so percise its mesmerizing
"And we laughed at the beatitudes of a thousand lines
We were asked at the attitudes
They reminded us of death
Even with the rest belated, everything is antiquated
Are you writing from the heart?
Are you writing from the heart?
Even in his heart the Devil has to know the water level
Are you writing from the heart?
Are you writing from the heart?"
