Self Defense Class

Sep 29, 2003 22:24

I went to a self defense class today sponsored by the Rachel Alert Network. It was very informative and I am glad that I went. My mom came with me. We didn't have to get up and demonstrate what we've learned or anything (I think there were about 45 women there), for which I'm glad since my arm is now covered in black-and-blue bruises and cuts.

As soon as we got there, we signed in and ate dinner (pizza from Papa John's and soft drinks). At about 6:45, the president of RAN (the father of missing 21 year old Rachel Cooke) spoke to us about the class and what would be expected. He then introduced us to the woman who would be conducting the class, who evidently has several credentials under her belt.

I would like to strongly encourage any woman who does not already know self defense to take the class. You can find classes at a local YMCA, through schools in your area, or just by asking around. Most classes are offered for free. Those that aren't free are offered at an extremely affordable price.

Anyway, I'm done preaching. For those of you who are interested in the Rachel Cooke case, you can visit rachelcookesearch.org.

Until next time,

JAZZY
