First of all, I just wanted to say that I noticed that some of my entries are centered around Church and religion. I just wanted to apologize if that has made anyone feel uncomfortable or upset, because I honestly had no idea that I was spending so much time on those two topics.
I went to church today, and my Sunday School teacher told us a story ("The Crab Story," he called it). Let me tell you what led up to this. We were discussing high school, and how in high school, there are many people who just can't handle anyone else being happy when they feel so miserable about themselves. I've found this to be true. For example, if one of your girl friends came up to your circle of friends and excitedly announces, "I have a new boyfriend, I just made an A on my Latin test," etc., odds are that someone in your group is going to try to "top that" or bring them down, by saying, "Oh, that's nothing. You should hear what's going on in MY life..."
Well, that's when my Sunday School teacher decided to tell us The Crab Story. In the East, it is tradition to go "crab hunting." You go to the beach, catch crabs, and put them in a bucket until you are ready to cook them. If you have only one crab in the bucket and you're not paying close attention, he will figure out how to climb over the side of the bucket and back out into the ocean where he wants to be. However, if you put TWO crabs in the same bucket, you don't have to worry about either of them scurrying off. Why? Because they're too busy grabbing each other and pulling one another back down to the bottom of the bucket.
I don't know if it's human nature or what, but it certainly makes me think twice about squashing another person's accomplishments with a mere shrug and "Oh, that's nice." So, take it and use it however you want. Or don't use it all. Do what you want with it.
Anyway, thanks for listening. I thought that was a cool story. I hope you enjoyed it. Until next time,
JAZZY
