25 Random Things

Jan 28, 2009 14:29

Crossposting this from Facebook.  I got a bunch of tags to do it, so I thought I would put it here to for anyone who cares.

No need to do it yourself, unless you just want to.

1. Growing up my favorite color was blue because everyone would always tell me that blue was a boy's color and red was for girls and I just didn't like that, so I decided to make blue my favorite color. Now, blue and purple are my favorite colors, so I guess I have somewhat embraced my girly side.

2. I have a very deep seeded aversion to slimy things. I have to use gloves for cooking, cleaning and many other things that may result in possible touching of things slimy. I don't know how I developed this aversion, it just kinda happened.

3. I have never traveled past Arkansas into the western US.

4. I really love the fact that my birthday is on the 13th day in October. Especially when it falls on a Friday.

5. I probably watch way more TV than any one person should who isn't getting paid for it. On any given night of the week, I probably DVR 3-6 different shows.

6. One of my favorite places to hang out during college was a place called Toad Suck Park in Conway, AR.

7. I was voted best actress in my senior high play for playing the Wicked Step Mother in Snow White. (I even got "hate" mail from the elementary kids who came to see the play, I kept a few of them because they make me smile when I see them).

8. I won the school spelling bee in the 6th grade, but lost at the county bee. Now my family treats me like a dictionary and always asks me how to spell things.

9. I am terrified of bridges and hate riding or driving over them, but I did make myself walk across the mile high swinging bridge at Grandfather Mountain. I only did it once and was completely scared out of my mind the whole time, but I did it.

10. The reason my first name is spelled the way it is is because my dad did not know how to spell Michell when he had to fill out the birth certificate if my mother had had her way about it, my name would be spelled "MyShell", so in the end, I appreciate my dad's little booboo, it makes me unique but not in a completely obnoxious way.

11. I have always been kind of envious of people who have a very obvious talent or skill. I still have trouble articulating the things I am good at and I am not entirely sure I have any talents or skills.

12. I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up.

13. I am terrified of becoming a parent and totally screwing my kids up.

14. I was the editor of my senior year book and everyone thought I was crazy when I suggested we put the teachers at the front of the yearbook rather than the seniors.

15. I have come to realize I am a pretty nosy person, which is good for the job I am in. It also means I sometimes obsessively read my friends feeds and updates on FB and I am a nut for PostSecret.

16. I have never seen any of the Godfather movies and I have been told this is absolute blasphemy for someone of my pop cultures prowess.

17. I grew up in a poor family and most of the food we ate was processed and deep fried. As an adult, I prefer cheap simple foods to the "finer" things in life. I'll take a box of kraft mac and cheese over home made mac and cheese any day!

18. I played basketball from 6th grade until I graduated high school. We only had one winning season, but it's some of the best memories of my high school experience.

19. I know I look a lot like my mom, I used to deny it when I was younger, but it's nearly impossible now. I just hope that I can look like her without ending up like her medically.

20. I like smiley faces and I collect random smiley faced things. Before smiley faces, I collected Elmo stuff.

21. I met my grandmother (mom's mom) for the first time when I was 13. She died when I was 16.

22. When I moved into my house this summer, it was the first time in my adult life I have ever lived off of a college campus.

23. My husband is a Yankee and he thinks it's sexy when my southern drawl is kicking in and I think it's sexy when his yankee accent kicks in

24. One of my goals in life was to attend the following sporting events: NFL Game, NBA Game, Arkansas Football game, Arkansas Bowl Game, Arkansas Basketball game, NHL Game. All I have left is the NFL Game. Although I would like to see the Arkansas FB and BB games in Fayetteville.

25. I was awarded a full scholarship to college and lost it after my freshman year. Despite that I didn't give up on my education and fought hard to finish school and go to grad school. I had to pay for most of my education with loans, but I don't regret that decision for a single moment. It was the greatest investment I could have ever made.
