-BEEP BEEP BEEP-
The incessant buzzer quickly brings end to my peaceful slumber. Drowsily, I awaken now into a world that is full of color, a sharp contrast to the black and white 0's and 1's that riddle my dreams. I rub my eyes and the red digits 06:51 come slowly into focus. I walk slowly and begrudgingly towards my shower, water scalding my skin, steadily awakening me. Why you may ask, was I up at this ungodly hour? I had a date with destiny; fate had scheduled me for my SAT II Subject Tests this morning. On my 6 hours of sleep (My routine proved it difficult for me to sleep any earlier than 1) I hurriedly dressed and got in the car. Eating my scrambled eggs and toast on the way, I realized that in an hour, I would be taking two very important examinations, SAT II Writing and United States History. I hoped the hours I had spent at Barnes and Noble alone and with my friends in the last few days would pay off. I arrived at Brophy to see a long line curving inside adjusting to the contours of the Brophy mall. I quickly met up with Aaron Brenzel, a long-time acquaintance and good friend (who incidentally playfully mocked me for my "over-preparedness" and familiarity with the games of College Board). The line moved quickly like a snake slithering through the Savannah Plains and I soon found myself talking to one of my favorite educators, none other than Mr. Tom Reithmann.
"ID Please", the friendly Brooklyn accent greeted me. I shuffled through my wallet and handed him what he asked of me. After some brief verification I was directed towards Room 102. On my way, I greeted Mrs. Shelle Maeder, (it had been far too short since our run in at Chicago Midway just last week...) and continued to Mr. Drapeaus classroom, the familiar posters of Jesus and maps of Samaria greeting me. After being welcomed by Warren Estrada, Tristan Bice, and Matthew Irvine, I made my way to a seat near the back. For far too short, however, as I had to locate Mr. Glosser to enquire if I could take only two tests instead of the three I had signed up for. (I was originally to take Chemistry as well, but my practice tests indicated a score of 600, near the national average, and I decided to omit it).
: / This is taking far too long... Then I took my tests, (I think I did well; my essay for writing centered on The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton) and then I drove with my dad to my Aunts where I helped her move into her new abode. A much needed break came from friend Bryce Kalmbach, calling me to talk about our performances on the SAT's and inviting me to "chill" soon. I politely declined; after helping my aunt move, I had to go to Best Buy to talk with the manager about my potential employment. Oh yeah I had KFC for lunch. And then I went to Best Buy, and realized that I would have to come back to talk with the manager. The trip wasn't to no avail; after a bit of research and convincing, We picked up an HD Antenna for our Home Theater. I got home and eagerly installed it and fumbled around with the new options. Then I walked over to my computers and my brother sent me the photographs I had taken in Chicago and Canada a week earlier. Perhaps I will post some.
Things on my mind:
Summer Jobs
Summer School @ GCC
ACT
College Research
College Applications (A chilling reminder from Harvard that I had to begin the long and draining process)
Mood: Relaxed, but slightly grounded because I got in at 3 am Friday morning...
