i wrote this for english class
I am from the glistening shores of the Atlantic Ocean,
With the space shuttle booming above.
I am from the salt water,
And the adventurers before me.
The ocean runs through my blood.
I am from mission trips to Guatemala.
Building schools for the friends I made there.
Hopping down the dirty streets with a cold plastic bag of coke in hand.
I am from long curly locks of blonde,
Elders from church squeezing my little cheeks.
I am from the mast, the sail,
The wind ruffling my clothes.
Long talks with my dad on overnight sails to a new country.
I am from surf trips with my buds,
Saltwater in my hair,
And the car covered in sand.
I am from smiles and laughs,
Comedians and jokesters.
I am from the incredible wisdom of my parents.
Their faith, that is so strong, and their abundant love for Christ and our family
Has always amazed me.
I am from a big grassy backyard.
With orange trees giving us oranges to eat,
With the sticky juice running down my chin.
I am from skateboards and basketball hoops,
Watching out for my little brother,
And playing till the streetlights tuned on.
I am from freedom, love for the ocean,
And explorers of life.
I am from love and kisses,
A family tree that will never break.
A family that will always be there for me
