I've been asked to move to a new cube in my office. My old cube has doubled in size. Sadly, it's been doubled for a new researcher coming in, not for me. Instead, I'm being moved to a cube right next to the door. This has made me think:
1) My cube's getting upgraded to first class, while I'm getting moved into coach, and
2) My advisor is putting me as close to the door as possible, so I start thinking about going OUT the door and getting a job somewhere else.
This past week, I started to clean out my desk, throwing away or shredding things that I didn't need. I also used my "mad Tetris skillz" to rearrange my new cube. Sadly, my experimental arrangements just didn't work. (For example, I had an arrangement I thought was really cool...except there wasn't room for my chair in it!) I ended up using the same floorplan that all of the other cubes have. So much for being original.
My plan today was to start moving things into my new desk. I got here about 3 hours ago. Through my diligence over the past few hours, I have moved...nothing. My new desk is empty. Way to go, Mike.
Instead, I've been diligently unlocking a bunch of my posts to make them viewable to the public. I have a habit of making all of my posts "friends only," and there's really no reason for me to do that most of the time.
