Oh yes. All of that. Let me just...

"Sorry I'm late," Sheriff Stilinski says as he slips into the booth next to Melissa McCall. "Work," he adds in a 'you know how it is' tone.

Chris, in the seat across from them, shifts in his seat. It's not like he's ever had a regular job, unless you count illegal weapons dealing or the few legitimate contracts he worked to keep up the cover. Melissa nods though. "It's fine. We haven't ordered yet."

Chris signals the waitress and she comes over to take their orders.

"Coffees all around?" the waitress asked, waving the pot of coffee at them. They all nod and wait until the waitress has filled all of their cups and pulled out a notebook to take down their orders.

The Sheriff orders a bacon cheeseburger and extra fries, plus an alibi salad that he won't eat. It's a pity about the money - four dollars for a simple salad! He could go outside and chew on some trees for free if he wanted to eat green stuff so badly - but he'd never hear the end of it if Stiles found out he hadn't even tried to balance the grease and fat with something healthy.

Once the food arrives, they eat in silence for a few minutes, collecting their thoughts.

"Allison wants to go to a hunter meet up in Oregon to represent the American branch of the Argent family," Chris eventually breaks the silence.

"Let me guess: you forbid her from going and now she's even more determined," John says.

Chris nods. "Technically, with my sister and my wife dead, Allison is the de facto matriarch of our family."

"But she's also an eighteen-year-old girl," Melissa says.

"That's the problem."

"Is she dead set on going alone?" Melissa asks. "If you offer to go with her, do you think she'd agree? You raised her to be a hunter, to be a leader. So just follow her and keep an eye on her."

"I'll take it into consideration," Chris says.

"I'm just saying that our kids are growing up. We can't hold their hand through all of it, not even if we want to."

"Hell," John cuts in. "When that snake woman blew into town and started killing people with her venom, I kind of wanted someone to come and hold my hand."

Melissa snorts into her coffee and Chris just shakes his head.

"What? You didn't see her; she was scary," John defends himself. "Plus, I got a call from the principle that week. Stiles got detention - again! I thought with Harris out of the picture, the number of detentions would sink drastically, but no such luck. I don't know what to do with that boy."

Melissa pats his arm and nods. "Oh, I know exactly what you mean. Scott--"

"Hey," Chris interrupts. Melissa has that look on her face like she's gearing up for an epic rant about Scott's problems at school and Chris really doesn't want to talk about his daughter's ex-boyfriend this week. "Were you aware that the waitress is a chimera? I think the whole diner is run by them."

Melissa sighs. "Do they need to be killed? Because I have better things to do on a Friday evening."

John looks at the half-eaten burger in his hands. "This burger is really good," he says. "It would be a shame if I couldn't get that next week on account of the chef being dead."

Chris shrugs. "Nah," he finally decides. "If they haven't done anything by now, then I think we're good." He points his fork at Melissa. "And what do you mean, you have better things to do? Have you or have you not been spending your Friday evenings with the two of us, complaining about all the ways teenagers and supernatural entities mess up our lives?"

Melissa throws a fry at him. "That's what I mean, dumbass."

Oops. Looks like I wrote a thing.

But yeah, Darach vs Kali would be awesome. In fact, I saw the promo for next week and [lalala]it looks like Jen will be working with the pack against the alphas. Hopefully we'll see some major asskicking on her part.
