I know how you feel. Which is too bad, since LJ spawned many friendships and food times for me. Facebook is good for people you know in person and want to keep in touch with, but it isn't good for in depth conversations or getting to know someone.

I don't know if I have old posts from high school I cringe at, but there are some I roll my eyes at. I had an inflated sense of self-importance, which is a little odd since I was still dealing with depression/anxiety/insecurity.
