Happy Thanksgiving (or, for my international readers, Happy Thursday!)!

I'm at my parents this morning, waiting for the Macy's Parade to start and watching this incredible story on Good Morning America about this 8-year-old kid who's a superstar athlete despite only having one leg. Wow--makes me feel inadequate.

Last night, John, Jim, Mike, and I went to see Milk. I'll probably write more about it after I get back in town, but--wow. It is easily the best film I've seen this year. It's also incredibly relevant because of the parallels between Prop 6 and Prop 8. Prop 8 shows how far we've come in 30 years (at least there is no longer any serious threat of all gay teachers being fired just for being gay), but also reminds us just how far we have to go. I strongly encourage everyone to go see it. It also heartens me about my own life, since I feel like I've done nothing important--and I'm still 9 years younger than Milk was when he moved to San Francisco.

As I promised, here are the answers to my music meme:

1. "Iron Man" Black Sabbath

2. "Killing Me Softly With His Song" Roberta Flack

3. "Pressure Drop" Toots and the Maytals

4. "Pinetop's Boogie Woogie" Pinetop Smith

5. "A Change is Gonna Come" Sam Cooke

6. "More Than a Feeling" Boston

7. "Lose Yourself" Eminem

8. "Splish Splash" Bobby Darin

9. "Ohio" Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young

10. "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" Traditional

11. "Gimmie Shelter" The Rolling Stones

12. "Pride and Joy" Stevie Ray Vaughn

13. "Sultans of Swing" Dire Straits

14. "Lady Marmalade" Patti LaBelle

15. "Chain of Fools" Aretha Franklin

16. "Young Americans" David Bowie

17. "Take It Easy" The Eagles

18. "My Sweet Lord" George Harrison

19. "(White Man) in Hammersmith Palais" The Clash

20. "Sweet Home Chicago" Robert Johnson

One last thing...I'm now watching the Macy Parade, and the cast of The Little Mermaid just performed "Under the Sea". Oh man, that looks ridiculous live on stage. I also find it amusing that, for many of the female cast members, the top half of their costumes were apparently inspired by stripper costumes. That wholesome Disney! Also, I hope dancing is keeping all the cast members of the various musicals that are performing warm, since nearly every actor has been wearing a rather thin-looking costume, and they announced at the top of the show that the outside temperature was 37 F in New York. Brrr.
