An American Carol

John had a choice between screening two movies last night--An American Carol or Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Perverse curiosity led him to pick Carol, and me to come up after the debate to watch it with him.

My hopes for Carol were--well, not exactly high, but not completely bottom-of-the-barrel, since director David Zucker was responsible

It looks like it's going to be fun, to me. But it isn't playing in Flagstaff, so I'll have to Netflix it at some point.

This isn't a personal battle; both of those journals are on my friends list as well as yours, and I responded the same way I would have if you had been anyone else making those comments, or even if two different people had made the comment in this journal and the one in the other one. In this instance, you made a sweeping, one-sided generalization and I was merely illustrating that point. Rather than addressing that, you chose to mock me. In the other case, someone says, "don't blame the democrats" and that's immediately what you do. I simply pointed that out.

I think plenty of liberals have a good sense of humor about themselves. Witness the many Democrats who watch South Park, which has served up more than a few liberal sacred cows over the years. And if Democrats do something stupid, Jon Stewart happily mocks them just as hard as he mocks Republicans.

Again, if the movie was actually funny, I would have not minded the fact that I disagreed with the message. But it wasn't. And it wasn't funny because I'm a humorless Democrat. It wasn't funny because it simply wasn't funny.

I fully expect that conservatives are going to be just as disappointed with the poor quality of the film's humor as I was. But go ahead and Netflix it if you want.

I think everyone's sense of humor in unique. So you might be exactly right. But I remember people who didn't think Borat was funny )I thought it was hilarious).
