Why I dislike Valentine's Day.
First off, this is not going to be a whiny complaint post so if you were scared by the title, please do continue; I promise that there is no emo in the upcoming words.
I do not like Valentine's Day for one reason: No one should need an excuse to show love and affection for the special someone(s) in their lives. There are people who buy their significant other one box of chocolates per year and think that's good enough. Why does it even need to involve money? Why do people wait to ask someone out until Valentine's? It's not romantic; it's bullshit. And we have a social taboo when it comes to Valentine's too...don't you dare to not get someone you love something because they'll feel like shit about it. How terrible is that?
The bottom line is that Valentine's gives us an excuse to be lazy the rest of the year. That's why I hate it.
