I AM SOOOOOO SICK OF LITTLE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS TELLING ME STUFF LIKE THEY KNOW BETTER WHEN ALL THEY ARE REALLY DOING IS REPEATING WHATEVER THE HELL IT IS THEIR TEACHER SAYS!

Art is REALLY not as HARD as everyone seems to make it out to be! Either you LIKE something or you DON'T! You don't like something just because it's on "nice paper", or because it's this, or because it's that! You either appreciate it on it's own or you don't. I like some stuff that is SOOO not what I usually like, and yet, for some reason, it just speaks to me!
I had some kid on DeviantArt tell me that in order to improve myself that I should surf DeviantArt because- AND I QUOTE!- it is "one of the best sites to find many artists, young and old, good or bad"... Uhh... WRONG! DA is a place for ALL kinds of people who all consider themselves "artists" to post ALL kinds of stuff- over 75% of it- CRAAAAAP!!!!!!! Lame anime traces, crappy web-cam whoring, video game screencaps, and god knows what else! Yes, there is some AMAZING art there, but how will looking at all of it help ME?! I'd waste more time rummaging through the garbage TRYING to find some sort of useful "inspiration" when I could be just doing the legwork and ART myself! All that time, I could actually be DRAWING! WOW! What a fucking concept!
The reason this "idea" offended me so much is probably because during that 2 year ART BLOCK I had... 'member that little happy time?!?!- That was ALL I DID! I looked at OTHER people's work! I rummaged through OTHER people's junk... and it did NOTHING for me! I wasn't "inspired", I wasn't "compelled" to work on anything for myself! I just kept sifting through it all... an endless pile of blah!
I posted that suggestion journal to get concentrated help on directions to turn to, and most of them have been AWESOME ideas! I mean, I am actually EXCITED to try them out, whether they work out for me OR NOT! But such a blah response is just kind of an insult to me... Some kid with a teacher telling them what to do- who has no voice of their own!- telling me where I could find one for myself...
Sure kid... next time, I'll tell you where to shove that advice from your teacher!
