Every Time It Rains - A WolfYuu FST

May 10, 2008 19:54

HAY GUIZE, AM I DOIN IT RITE?

I've never made a FST before. I didn't actually know what one was until Miyou told me. But yeah. Since I'm easily taken by stuff like this, it was bound to happen eventually. I'm always listening to music, and I just naturally assign songs to different characters and pairings and things, without even thinking about it. It's a weird habit. But it was fun coming up with this.

This is a soundtrack for the pairing of Wolfram von Bielefeld x Yuuri Shibuya, from the anime Kyo Kara Maoh! (duh). I love this pairing sooo much, I just had to do it. The dynamic between the characters is just wonderful, and I never get tired of watching them bounce off each other. Yuuri's naivety and diplomacy contrasting Wolfram's temper and passion work together so well. The songs all remind me of the two of them for one reason or another. Actually, most of them are Wolfram…well, he's more open about his feelings, so that's all right. =D

The covers aren't that great but I personally like the way they turned out. By the way, no, it didn't occur to me when I was making it, but I am now totally aware of the irony of "Every Time It Rains" on such a sunny cover…

(I made a second version of the track list image because I couldn't decide which one I liked better.)

The track list isn't actually random, as it may at first appear. It was chosen after a long process of careful consideration on my part, and there is a profound reasoning and balance involved in the order chosen*, but the subtlety would surely be lost on you uncultured plebs so I won't even bother getting into it. Humph.

*No, really.

1. "Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows
Both
So she said "What's the problem, baby?"/What's the problem, I don't know/Well, maybe I'm in love/.../Well I didn't mean to do it/But there's no escaping your love...

Starting the list off for obvious reasons. If "bitchslap=marriage" isn't the epitome of "Accidentally in Love", I don't know what is…

2. "Everywhere" by Michelle Branch

Wolfram
Just tell me how I got this far/Just tell me why you're here and who you are/'Cause every time I look you're never there/And every time I sleep you're always there/'Cause you're everywhere to me/And when I close my eyes it's you I see

I saw this song used in a WolfYuu AMV and thought it was very appropriate. When Wolfram falls for Yuuri, he falls fast and he falls hard. Yuuri doesn't have a clue how strong Wolf's feelings are (open your eyes, man!).

3. "Every Breath You Take" by Sting

Wolfram
Every breath you take/Every move you make/Every bond you break/Every step you take/I'll be watching you...

This song is more for fun than anything else. But come on! This is totally his song! You could rename it "Wolfram's Theme"!

4. "I'm Jealous" by Shania Twain

Wolfram
Oh, I don’t want to share you with nothing else/I gotta have you to myself/I can’t help it, I’m so in love/I just can’t get you close enough

When I first heard this song I immediately thought how appropriate it was for Wolf. I think it sums up his feelings about Yuuri pretty well: the whole world is after Yuuri but Wolf wants him alllll to himself. Bonus points for the part about rain. XD

5. "You Are" by Lionel Richie

Wolfram
You are the sun/You are the rain/That makes my life this foolish game/You need to know/I love you so/And I’d do it all again and again

This one is sort of filler. It is a generically appropriate love song, but it's really on the list for the chorus here.

6. "Possession" by Sarah McLachlan

Wolfram
Into the sea of waking dreams/I follow without pride/Nothing stands between us here/And I won't be denied/And I would be the one/To hold you down/Kiss you so hard/I'll take your breath away

A song about obsession and unfulfilled passions, with a haunting chorus. Wolf lends himself to music well, doesn't he?

7. "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt

Wolfram
Turn down the lights, turn down the bed/Turn down these voices inside my head/Lay down with me, tell me no lies/Just hold me close, don't patronize/Don't patronize me/Cause I can't make you love me if you don't/You can't make your heart feel something it won't

This is the song that made me start the list. To me this is Wolfram giving up, realizing that no matter how much he loves Yuuri, he can't change the way the other boy feels, he can only stay by his side. Poor Wolf. =(

8. "Every Time It Rains" by Charlotte Martin

Wolfram
When it was getting dark I/Didn't need a match I/Never needed light to see you/You thought I disappeared but/I was always here/I could never get that far from you/Though I misunderstand/And been misunderstood/So love me cause you can/And not because you should

I freaking love this song. ;_; It's very emotional but the message is clear. "Don't ever give up, embrace the bad times with the good, I'm here for you." Just...listen to it. I chose this one as the title of the soundtrack because I personally think it stands out; it sounds like Wolfram.

9. "Wanted" by Holly Brook

Yuuri
I will be wanted/I will not fall from grace/Daylight has waited/Just to live upon your face/I won't be haunted/I will not sleep to bleed/All that I wanted/Has been right in front of me

I love the underlying hopeful note here. Waking up and realizing that you've already found what you're looking for.

10. "Something to Talk About" by Bonnie Raitt

Yuuri
People are talking, talking 'bout people/I hear them whisper, you won't believe it/They think we're lovers kept undercover/I just ignore it, but they keep saying/We laugh just a little too loud/Stand just a little too close/We stare just a little too long/Maybe they're seeing/Something we don't, darling

This came about because of the maids. "People are talking, talking 'bout people…" Come on now. XD I'm convinced that this is how Yuuri will finally realize what an idiot he is his feelings for Wolf.

11. "When Did You Fall" by Chris Rice

Yuuri
Make your way over here, sit down by this fool, and let’s rewind/C’mon, let’s go back and replay all our scenes/You can point out the hints, the clues, the twists and the smiles this time/All the ones that slipped by me

Self-explanatory, honestly. This is the "Gee golly, I'm a moron" song. 8D

12. "All For You" by Sister Hazel

Both
There's been times, I'm so confused/All my roads, they lead to you/I just can't turn and walk away/It's hard to say what it is I see in you/Wonder if I'll always be with you/But words can't say, and I can't do/Enough to prove/It's all for you

Thank you Miyou, for reminding me that this song existed. 8D

13. "The Hard Way" by Keith Urban

Both
It's just who we are baby, we've come too far to start over now/I know what you're thinking; I'm not always easy to be around/But I do love you/You keep me believing that you love me too/And I know it's true/This love drives us crazy but nobody's walking away/So I guess we'll have to do it the hard way

This whole song is ASDFG;JKL SO PERFECT for this pairing. SOOO perfect. "I piss you off? Well fine, you piss me off too. I love you~<3"

14. "Stuck With You" by Huey Lewis and the News

Both
We've had some fun, and yes we've had our ups and downs/Been down that rocky road, but here we are, still around/Thought about someone else, but neither one could debate/Thought about breaking up, but now we know it's much too late/We are bound by all the rest/Like the same phone number/All the same friends/And the same address

Ending the album on the same light note that we started with, I think this bouncy track also fits the WolfYuu pairing to a T. At this point it really doesn't matter if they have another fight or if Yuuri gets caught "cheating" again, because they're pretty much stuck together. And I don't think they mind. <3
