Seriously, it's a wonder the characters aren't all greviously injured from the overbearing, self-imporant nail-spiked club of a score.
I lol'd.
I just checked in our catalog. We bought ten copies of that movie (one for each branch and a shortloan no-holds-allowed "hot pick" for the big four branches) in February and not a single one has over 30 checkouts on it. On the other hand, Across the Universe, a ten-copy movie I cataloged one week after Valley/Elah, has 40-60 circs on it.
Oh good lord, IMDB reviews.mizunolMay 12 2008, 04:13:56 UTC
In the Valley of Elah promises to be one of those weird movies -- it's very self-important, but I find it hard to believe that 20-30 years later people will watch it on it's merit as a film and not, say, the way we watch something like Guess Who's Coming to Dinner today -- with a mixture of uncomfortable horror and vague interest that this used to be the kind of thing people made movies about.
