Summary: Arthur wasn't happy when he learned he was the Cinderella of Hetalia Academy's Valentine's Day Dance. Alfred being Prince Charming didn't make it better.
Without his Cinderella, the dance had somewhat fell apart for Alfred, who actually left a dance early for a change. He felt bad for the girl, surely she was just some sweet, shy, British (yes she had a clear accent) girl, who had some from of a crush on him. Then he flat out told her they probably won’t be together because he liked (well loved, but he said liked) Arthur Kirkland. Alfred didn’t exactly like breaking hearts.
Of course very much like the fairytale, Alfred had something to find her with…but there was no way she would come forward. He was sure she would do everything to avoid him as well, huddle behind her group of friends, who probably just wanted to give her a shot with him.
Alfred sighed, the very thought rather scared him. Girls here had weight to throw around with this school, no doubt they out beat his Secret Service father and White House staff mother. Yup, it would not be fun.
He eventually found Kiku and returned the Prince costume before returning to his dorm building. The February air was crisp and cool, not still chilling like it was in America most likely. Still he was comfortable in his thick bombers jacket. He entered the Common Room, finding it abandoned. He sighed and walked towards the stairs to take him up to his room.
Reaching his floor he found none other than Arthur Kirkland in front of a vending machine. He seemed to turn at the sound of someone arriving, but looked back oddly at the machine oddly fast.
“You’re back early,” Arthur observed punching in some numbers.
“Cinderella ran away earlier than expected.” Alfred admitted with a shrug as the machine noisily produced what Arthur punched in.
Arthur didn’t say anything for a while, merely collected his bottled drink. Okay well in reality Arthur didn’t say anything and started for his room.
“So you get anything done?” Alfred asked, in a need for conversation with someone.
“Ironically…no,” Arthur said flatly, turning around to look at him. His green eyes drifted downwards slightly before he raised a thick eyebrow. “Why the bloody hell do you have a mask? You do realize they are against school code.”
“It’s Cinderella’s, it’s the only way I can find her, that is if she doesn’t avoid me.” Arthur looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
“Why would that be, surely there isn’t a bloody girl in this school who doesn’t want to be with you.”
“Well I confessed to liking someone else.” Alfred really should say loving, but he wasn’t exactly up for changing it, even if Arthur was in front of him, talking to him without breaking the rules. Arthur didn’t say anything, which caused Alfred to look at the ground. He noticed something on Arthur’s feet. “You’re wearing slippers…outside your room.” Alfred pointed out, causing Arthur to flourish. “You do that’s against the rules,” Alfred said slyly.
Arthur flourished more before turning around quickly. “Belt up! No ones around…and my feet are bothering me.” Arthur said with a sort of huff, he whipped around sharply again. “Don’t tell any one about this!”
“What, that you break the rules in the shadows?” Alfred asked with a chuckle, leave it to Arthur to be concerned about something. “Come on, Artie, I’m going to break last years record for dress codes, you think I would tell the world you were slippers in the hallway when no ones around?”
“Yes.”
“Well I won’t,” Alfred grinned out. “Hero’s promise.” Arthur looked at him oddly. “Cross my heart and hope to die.”
A small smiled wormed it’s way to Arthur’s lips. “You’re such a child.” Arthur said shaking his head.
Suddenly, Alfred had the urge to kiss him. He didn’t know why really, maybe it was the fact that Arthur was talking to him without listing everything wrong about him. He even smiled, even though it was small. Alfred wasn’t exactly sure what he was thinking, but her grabbed Arthur and tugged him over, sealing his lips with a kiss.
Arthur froze for a few fractions of a second, before melting into Alfred. That confused Alfred; he had surely thought Arthur wasn’t a huge fan of his, despite what Mr. Bonnefoy had said. However he really couldn’t care, unless he was to wake up from some amazing dream, Arthur almost seemed content in his arms.
They pulled away, Alfred resting his forehead against Arthur, he had a loop sided grin on his lips with his eyes still close. His cheeks were a slight rose color. Suddenly he took in a deep breath, like he was about to sigh or drift of to sleep.
“What you said at the fountain was wrong.” Arthur said suddenly opening his eyes and looking into Alfred’s.
Alfred pulled away puzzled, when had he talked to Arthur by the fountain and said something that was either right or wrong. Arthur gave a nervous chuckle, on that made Alfred think about the shy British Cinderella he would have to find later. Arthur grabbed the hand Alfred had the mask in by the wrist and held it so the mask was in his face.
Blue eyes widen slowly as he moves his hand out of the way of the mask and resting it on Arthur’s pale face. It fits perfect, and Alfred finds himself looking at his Cinderella.
“I was the Valentine’s Day Dance’s Cind-” Alfred cuts him off with a deep kiss.
All Alfred can think about was the fact that he confessed to Arthur without knowing it. It explained why he fled, something Kiku had said about Arthur drifted in the back of his head (“Arthur-san doesn’t show his emotions well, sometimes I think they scare him”). Arthur’s moan knocked all the thoughts away as Alfred deepened the kiss.
The clock tower suddenly chimed its beginning tone as Alfred weaved his fingers in Arthur’s amazingly soft hair. The bell rang twelve times when they finally pulled away. The Cinderella spell was broken, but it wasn’t like they really needed it to be there any more.
“You want to come to my room?” Arthur asked when he pulled away. “Every one will be coming back here; you might get caught in the crowd.” Arthur smiled with a blush on his face as well as dazed look. Alfred can’t help but agree.
