Nanowrimo: Wiktory

Apparently I should always write a middle grade novel during Nano, because the 3 times I have succeeded with it, that's what I've been writing.

I just clocked in with a 50,400 word count for Nano itself, and finished the book at 67K. This would be SO MUCH COOLER if I had not written 80K of Wrong Stuff on the book before getting it right, but oh well. On the positive side, I know the first scenes for the next book (no, they're not from the Wrong Stuff, which is pretty much entirely useless), so at least I've got a running start there.

The important bit is that I have finished my nephew's Christmas present with enough time to spare that I can put it aside for a week before doing a quick edit pass on it, and get it printed up and delivered well before Christmas.

That was book #3 for the year. If I was to have a truly amazing amount of shit together (which I pretty demonstrably do not) I would write another one, or most of it, before the year was out. Instead I'm going to send out NO DOMINION, write a short story, write a short comic script, and write a synopsis and hopefully substantial proposal for that 4th book, which I will then JaNoWriMo in the opening weeks of 2013. (And then in Feb/March I will JoNoWriMo, except that reads more like "Jo no write more" which is actually exactly accurate even though I meant Jo(anne) novel writing months rather than, y'know, no more writing Jo after that.)

I'm off!
