You guys maintain the level of awesome SO HIGH it is nearly impossible to keep up with you.

The four items I had in the Magick 4 Terri auction have sold for a total of $1200. The short story went to Bill Schafer at Sub Press--who claims he's actually buying it as a gift :)--and the three sets (sets! they all sold as SETS!) of the books for my nephew went at $100, $250 and $400 respectively. Did I mention you guys are awesome?

The fella who bought the $400 set of books didn't even know who Terri Windling was. This is what I told him about her:

I know Terri Windling best as an acquiring editor whose acquisitions included Charles de Lint, and Emma Bull's WAR FOR THE OAKS, some of the early forerunners of urban fantasy, among many others. She has edited some of the most fantastic fairy tale series & anthologies, and is one of those people whose editorial decisions have shaped, consciously-or-un, a lot of my ideas of what seems *possible* to do in the urban fantasy field. She's influenced the fantasy world in ways that readers wouldn't necessarily recognize, but writers (who tend to pay more attention to editors) are highly aware of, and...yeah. Terri Windling is one of those people who--I would be writing books anyway, but without Terri's influence I would most certainly be writing different books, you know?

So that's Terri Windling, at least to me. And the auction brought in over $71K in total, which rather suggests she's a lot of things to a lot of other people, too. Fandom, and humans, once more prove themselves to be splendid.

(Me, I managed to restrain myself and buy only two items (a whimsical print for Young Indiana's room, and a cover art for hire auction).)

best fans evar, we can't save everybody but we can help
