Wow. I'm just unusually useless today. I got up very briefly this morning, decided that wasn't going to work, and went back to bed for almost two hours. I could've slept another hour, too, but I thought no, I've got a ton of stuff to do today, I need to get up and get going.
So I got up and instead of getting going, mostly got attacked by a random allergy blow-out (which seems to have passed now, but there was a lot of sneezing and red itchy eye going on for a while there). My big plans were to get a thousand words written this morning, then go mail my page proofs for TRUTHSEEKER and buy some insoles for my tennies. I was pathetic enough, however, that Ted got back from swimming, more or less took a look at me, and said, "Why don't you pack up the proofs and I'll go send them for you."
Have I mentioned lately that I'm married to an incredibly good person? Because I am. ♥
So I packed up the proofs (which were really comparatively few: it was about a 10 hour task to deal with them over the weekend, so that really wasn't too horrible, all things considered), and my heroic husband has gone off to send them and to run other errands, including getting insoles, while I remain at home, mostly staring vacantly at my computer screen. I did successfully half-assedly clean the kitchen while the cats were having lunch, so I've accomplished a couple small things so far, but writing 3500 words, or even a thousand, has not been much on the radar. I'm writing this blog entry in the vague hopes that typing a few hundred words will encourage my fingers to fall into the habit and therefore be happy to go work on SPIRIT DANCES even if my brain isn't particularly attendant.
...dude, how awesome is this. If you're in Philadelphia,
The Curio Theatre Company is doing a steampunk version of Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT.

Kyle Cassidy. I must know *someone* in Philly who can go see this and report back...!
Okay. SPIRIT DANCES needs to be at 75K (ideally a consecutive 75K; it's currently at a non-consecutive 60K, and a consecutive 56K) by Friday. Word warriors will show up in a little bit here, and that'll help, but I will set myself a low-key goal of 1K today. Yes, this makes for at least one big writing day later in the week, but that seems more manageable than insisting to myself that I Must Write 3500 Words Today.
Tally ho, then.
