Sugar Wars: Day 1

Several of us in these parts have entered a pact, or at least an agreement, to cut sugar from our diets for 30 days. Much of my incentive is that it’s pretty clear I’m gaining weight at exactly the same rate I’m eating junk food, and I’d rather not balloon ALL the way back up to my previous fatness. its hard giving up sugar.... I have cut from adding sugar to my tea (both hot and cold) and I try to buy products that dont have sugar in the top five ingredients. Or High Fructose Corn Syrup...

not giving up on ice cream yet...

I'm making a strong attempt to cut my alcohol consumption in half this year, for related reasons. Of course, this is the year I'm taking on more duties at the winery. Because of course it is. *headdesks*

Fwiw, there's a Deepak Chopra cookbook that you might like. It does a lot of flavor combining, so you get salty, sweet, umami, etc. in the same meal. The idea is that by getting all the flavors, you don't crave that sweetness afterwards in the form of dessert. It even has a 30-day meal plan, which might come in useful for you right now.

Also, the food is good. :D
