all the presidents (men)

I was-well, really-trying to bore myself to sleep the other night by seeing how many of the US presidents I could remember. Fewer than 20, reliably, as it turned out. The whole thing went like this:

Obama, Bush Jr, Clinton, Bush Sr, Reagan, Carter…wait, uh. Spiro Agnew wasn’t ever actually president, who was it in there…well. nevermind, Nixon, ( Read more... )

Herbert Hoover was president, J. Edgar Hoover was the FBI guy. Gerry Ford came between Carter and Nixon.

Some of the rest of them are really entertaining if you decide to dig into them. Full of anecdote and whiskers.

Yeah, I eventually deduced that about the Hoovers. I now know about ten more presidents reliably, if not quite the order they come in... :)

There was a time, waaaaay back in High School, where I'd memorized the entire list of presidents up to the current one.

I suspect I could probably name more than you, but I get fuzzy between about 1872-1896. :)

I had an awesome history teacher in 8th grade - big guy with a beard that would now be the envy of hipsters everywhere. He taught us a pneumonic ditty using the first syllable of each presidents last name. I can get up to Reagan at which point I have to rely on actual knowledge rather than memorization. The one I wish I could remember was the bones in the body that the science teacher in 6th grade taught. However it's no surprise to me given how traumatic sixth grade was.

You REALLY should listen to the Hamilton soundtrack, which explains why Hamilton was never President (besides the obvious).

Whether you should then stay up until 4am watching Ham4Ham videos on Youtube, I leave to your
own good judgement.

Honestly, I haven't bought the soundtrack because I'm under the impression it will completely eat my brain, and I can't afford to have my brain eaten until I've finished the huge massive list of revisions/edits/production that I've got to deal with. I'm hoping it'll all be done before we go on holiday, whereupon I'll listen to Hamilton on repeat for 3 weeks. ;)

A wise and fine plan. After your first week of Hamilton, I recommend watching this video on The Ten Stages of Becoming Obsessed by Hamilton.

Happy Revising/Editing/Producing!
