Marriage Referendum

Ireland is going to the polls today to decide whether or not marriage is for everybody. It’s apparently the first time in the world that the question of marriage equality has been put to a national vote, so frankly, it’s going to be a huge fecking embarrassment if it fails.

It's very much being talked about here in Seattle. As you can imagine, breath is being held in hope of an overwhelming yes I said yes I will Yes vote.

We were talking about it in our staff room this week, we are all voting yes but fearful of the "shy voters" who aren't but won't admit it. One of the girls said "down the country" it's all no that you hear so the hometovote hashtag is soothing my worries a bit.

Then again, one of the other teachers has a 90 year old mam in Limerick who is voting yes because "I have to change with the times!"
