This is actually why I recommend that friends read Disc World out of order. The original Rincewind stories are amusing enough but they are nothing compared to his later stuff. I really liked Good Omens but I was disappointed by Sourcery and I don't remember which Pratchett book I loved first. It might have been Moving Pictures but I think it might have been Time Thief.
Huh. I tried Pratchett a couple of times because he *should* have been my kind of thing. (I love humor, and there are witches, and fantasy and stuff.) But I never finished one. Maybe I read the wrong ones first. (I did see a couple of British movies they made of his things and thought they were a riot.)
SMALL GODS was the first Pratchett I read, and I was hooked. Death (and Susan) are some of my favorite characters ever. I'm going to miss Terry Pratchett, but I still have his books.
