Recent Reads: The Grand Sophy

I started reading Georgette Hayer probably because of Sarah Rees Brennan and Chrysoula Tzavelas, who are both big Regency fans. I’ve read three or four of her books now and enjoyed them all, but THE GRAND SOPHY is one of Chrysoula’s favourites, and I can entirely see why.

I recently just started reading Heyer myself (thank you, Kindle Unlimited), and The Grand Sophy so far is one of my favorites for just this reason. :)

Yeah, those chapters and the commentary surrounding the character made me think, repeatedly, of being a product of one's time.

There is a biography of Heyer out. Fascinating background. Her grandfather was a Russian emigre - a fur trader -from the pale of settlement in Russia!

I don't quite like the romance in The Grand Sophy, but otherwise I think it's marvelous. She's a wonderful character.
