Hmmmm... T...
First one is easy- Thomas Covenant, Unbeliever, from the Chronicles of the same name by Stephen R. Donaldson. He is a classic anti-hero; within about the first 20 pages of the book (give or take) he does something completely heinous and unforgivable. The rest of the books (6 in all) involve what he does to atone, amend and be absolved. There are other characters in the series I like better (Mhorem, particularly), but Covenant drives the plot.
Next... Tom Cullen, from Stephen King's The Stand. Again, not my favourite character from the book (would be a tie between Larry, and, believe it or not, Lloyd...), but since I got T, well, "Moon", that spells Tom Cullen! I loved The Stand, and recently re-read it with Ariel, and then watched the mini-series. The new extended edition is pretty cool.
A favorite of mine from the LotR trilogy is King Theoden of Rohan, who was very nicely cast in the film version. The movie and actor did an excellent job with the scene of him coming back into himself, really stunning. I remember crying when he died, every time I read the trilogy.
I found the character of Tia Dalma from the PotC movies fascinating, but was less interested, actually, when they made her Calypso. I liked the idea of a voodoo priestess with shady motivations (and fine taste in men- Captain Jack *and* Barbossa), but thought the Calypso thing could have been done better.
I think we'll finish off with another character who wasn't my very favorite, but whose show had a *huge* impact on me. Sheriff Harry S. Truman of Twin Peaks. Harry kept us grounded, while all around us was swirling mystery, and while I related better to the fascinating Cooper, the mystical Hawk and the driven Audrey Horne, Harry was the one who often made the most sense. His acceptance of Coop into the Bookhouse Boys was a peak moment for me in the series.
(there are no "T" characters I love in some of my faves- GWTW, Watership Down, Hotel New Hampshire, ST: TNG and DS9, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Firefly and others... T was harder than it sounds).
