1. Ray talked Vecchio into seeing Dudley Do-Right. Didn't take a lot of convincing actually. "The guy playing him even has nearly the same name, and come on, it can't be any less believable than what we actually went through, right?" was pretty much all it took.
Afterward, they called Fraser to apologize, even though it was really late in Canada.
2. Vecchio conned Ray into helping him take his nieces and nephews to see Up the week it opened. The lines were terrible, the prices outrageous ("$7.50 for a matinee?" Kowalski had bitched) and the pre-movie crowds cut-throat. Ray nearly gave up on getting them seats together, but Kowalski glared at a soccer mom and suddenly the row was theirs.
Once the lights went out, it was like someone had waved a magic wand. All the kids were quiet, the whole theater just felt happy, and the movie turned out to be really good.
3. One of the first movies Ray and Vecchio went to was South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. Vecchio had just snorted when Ray suggested it. "A cartoon. Sounds about your speed, Kowalski."
But he went, so Ray was happy. They were both amused when a guy came through the theater carding everybody before it started. And by the end both were laughing out loud. As they left, they agreed that between the songs and the whole Satan/Hussein thing, it was probably the gayest movie they'd ever see. And that turned the conversation in a very interesting direction.
The next day, whenever anyone asked Ray why he was acting so weird, he'd just answer, "I'm super, thanks for asking," making Vecchio blush.
4. When a certain Brando film was showing at a film festival in town, Ray wisely didn't mention it to Kowalski.
5. Ray was really into Dark Knight, but they left partway through, when he realized Vecchio was shrinking in on himself as he watched it. Ray wasn't sure whether it was seeing a good guy go bad, or just some of the sick shit that Joker was doing, but it was obvious that something had struck a nerve.
And Ray got that, he really, really did. Undercover flashbacks were the worst. He also knew talking about it would do no good. So they left, Ray complaining of a headache and Vecchio pretending to buy it, giving him a grateful look as they got to the car. And when they got home, Ray kissed Vecchio, not stopping until he let go of whatever it was that was haunting him and kissed Ray back.
