1. Fraser never did return the rag Ray gave him that day in the garage. Ray found it years later in a dresser drawer, the crisp folds at odds with the dirt and grease stains. When Fraser saw it in Ray's hands he looked down, blushing so hard it made Ray realize just what it was. He didn't tease Fraser about it though, just put it back in the drawer where he'd found it, and kissed Fraser soft and sweet.
2. Ray kept the chauffer's hat when he and Fraser headed north.
3. Fraser knew that life with Ray would be full of surprises. Even so, the fact that Ray and his father got along so well was something of a shock. "Good man, that Yank," he'd told Ben after dinner the night he'd introduced them. Ben was fairly certain his father was turning a blind eye as to the true nature of his and Ray's relationship, but he gave his official approval of Ray as a traveling companion.
It was more than Fraser had dared hope.
4. Ray and Fraser traveled a lot before finally settling down. They didn't have a lot, but Ray could fix practically anything, and Fraser was a pretty hands-on kind of guy, a quick study, and wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty. So they did okay. It was a far cry from their former jobs, but as it turned out, neither of them minded.
5. Fraser still kept in contact with Renfield Turnbull when he could. So he was one of the first to find out about Turnbull's elopement with Francesca Vecchio. Apparently, the two of them had met after her brother's arrest, and it was love at first sight.
When Fraser told Ray about it, Ray had to put down the clock he was fixing, he laughed so hard. Fraser admonished Ray for laughing, but privately, he thought it was fairly amusing.
