mark_o_rama, how have you not posted about the
60 foot Gundam that was constructed in Tokyo? I particularly love the glowing eyes. That's a sure sign that it will come to life and kill all humans.
Late last night on the way home from
kymkyhgq and
rose727's place we saw a beautiful husky dog trying to cross Morris Ave. It was clearly very tame and friendly and scared, so we drove around the corner to the police station to let them know and hopefully get help since we really do not have the resources to take in a probably lost pet. They let one of their officers know and they called animal control and we went back out to try to find the dog.
She was wandering down a residential side street, and came over to the car when I called her. Unfortunately, I couldn't really comfort her since I'm allergic to dogs, but we sorta half parked and
clever_title tried to keep her out of the street. Thankfully another couple saw the dog and wanted to help as well. They own a dog and wanted to take the husky until they could find the owners. So you have the two of us, the other couple and a cop all trying to convince this very sweet dog that we were there to help her not run into the street and get hit by a car.
One of the people who lived on the street noticed what was going on and offered us a leash to help. The officer managed to get it around her neck, but she would not get into the couple's SUV, so
clever_title and I ran across the street to the Walgreens for some beef snacks. Thank God that place was open 24 hours. The beef finally did it and by leaving a little trail that led into the backseat, they were able to get her inside. I know they left their information with the police department, and hopefully her owners got her chipped so they can find her. She didn't have a collar, but she was clearly a pet, and responded to "sit," "shake," and "paw."
So we got home about an hour later than we wanted to, but it was worth it. I hope they find the owners, or if by some awful chance she was abandoned she gets a great home. That was one sweet, gentle dog, and she should have a nice family.
