POTC3 tutorial
I had to make this icon for a POTC icon challenge and I thought I would share the tutorial with those of you who might be interested. Enjoy.
going from

1.) Crop your base as you like. You can sharpen the image if you wish but I chose not to because it gave it a softer appearance.
2.) Duplicate your base and set it to screen, opacity 100%
3.) Create a new hue saturation layer. Layers>>New Adjustment Layer>>Hue/Saturation/Lightness set the saturation level to 10.
4.) Create a new color balance layer. Layers>>New Adjustment Layer>>Color Balance:
midtones: 17 0 -15
shadows: -23 0 17
highlights: 7 0 -10
5.)Create another hue saturation layer and set the levels like so-
Master:5
Reds:10
Yellows:10
Greens:0
Cyans:0
Blues:10
6.)Take this gradient--->
made by moonstonecicons and place it as a new layer. Set it to overlay opacity 71%
7.)Take this gradient
also made by moonstonecicons and make it as a new layer. Set it to soft light opacity 68%.
8.)Merge all/flatten layers. Now you can add text or whatever you would like.
