Springsmut recs, part ii
Work has kept me busy, but my massive project of doom went out yesterday, and I actually got to leave the office at 5:00pm yesterday. It also meant that I missed this week's Dancing with the Stars and American Idol shows, which made me very sad-faced indeed.
I saw the new book covers, have nothing to add that has already been said, but I'm very excited, yet aprehensive at the same time. I've also seen some posts worrying about the state of HP fandom. I'm still here, even if I don't post as much, which is mostly because of my job than lack of interest. There are still lots of great fic and art being posted, and new shiny pictures from OotP, even a high-res shot of Gary Oldman's wrinkled man boob. (Okay, I really didn't need to see that, WB. Honestly).
Anyway, my recs folder is overflowing, so here we go. (In no particular order).
L'autre Bout du Monde by anon. [Ron/Remus, NC-17]
Ron, permanently injured from the war and mourning Hermione's death, moves into a ramshackle flat with Remus.
I'm still fixated on Ron fics, it seems:D On paper, not a pairing that I would get, but I really enjoyed this fic. There are some lovely warm and an awkward moments in this fic as Ron and Remus admit their attraction and become intimate with each other. And I have such a kink for awkward sex!! Ron is a virgin and actually acts like one: nervous and shy, yet aroused and hopeful. Yum!
WAGs to Riches by anon. AU [Percy/Oliver, NC-17]
Percy, an ad exec at a star-chasing business magazine, becomes reacquainted with his old school crush, Oliver Wood, a top Rugby player.
First of all, I love non-magical AUs. This was a delight to read. Percy is snarky, dry, awkward, and over-thinks things. A wonderful portrayal of a character that really isn't one of my canon favorites. The smut is pretty darned hot too. Wonderful writing.
Kin by anon. [James/Sirius, NC-17]
James and Sirius have a drink after a hard day. Even this does not go as planned.
James/Sirius has quickly become on of my favorite pairings and really the only MWPP pairing that I've truly warmed to and this fic has everything I like about them: boyish camaraderie, drunkenness, stupid arrogance, fighting, love... All tinged with the poignancy that neither will have much of a future. Also, hot drunken sex!
The Last Night of the World by anon. [Harry/Draco/Tonks, Harry/Draco, NC-17, warning for double penetration)
If Tonks had ever tried to imagine the eve of the final battle, she definitely wouldn't have pictured herself lying naked on a huge four-poster bed in number twelve, Grimmauld Place… (Let me finish that for the author) …waiting for Harry and Draco to fuck her.
HOT! The Harry and Draco characterizations here are really wonderful, both polar opposites, but spot-on, I thought. (Tonks was a bit of a blank slate to me, I'm afraid). I can't think of why any H/D lover wouldn't enjoy this fic unless the idea of them partaking in heterosexual sex is squicky. Also, really hot!!
