Transfer?

Jan 25, 2006 20:58

I've been spending a lot of time in Charlotte recently. with Travis obviously. and he and I have been talking about pretty serious shit like me transferring and us living together and things like that. and i've been thinking more and more about what exactly Asheville has to offer me as far as academics, and have been debating the pros and cons of staying here and going there.

UNCA
leaving friends is an issue. I have made some awesome friends here. but I hardly ever see them.
parking here sucks. I've gotten 3 tickets since i've been back.
dont offer many classes. I've been unable to get into classes I need b/c they simply dont offer more than one or two on that subject
however, class sizes are smaller. this is good.
attendance policy is strict we all know how well i am with attendance
food sucks.
its cheaper to go to school here tho.
i have a scholarship here and I dont know if it will transfer.
some of my classes may not transfer to Charlotte or may not count for as much credit.
lots of neat on campus activities. made possible b/c we are a small school
traveling opportunites with teaching fellows. these rock.
won't be able to double major and graduate in 4 years.
4hrs away from home.
only 3000 undergrads. that means this college resembles my highschool. everybody knows your business. but the ppl are cooler b/c they are hippies.*smiles*

Basically, UNC Chapel Hill was my first choice. It's a big school. and while I'm enjoying all the benefits of a small school, I feel a little stifled at UNCA.

UNCC
I dont really have any friends at Charlotte. except Travis, Allyce, Kyle, and Travis' friends
I have been to Charlotte a thousand times and never gotten a ticket. PARKING ROCKS!
larger school=more available classes.
but class size is more like 50 to 1 than say 20 to 1. so less individual attention.
attendance...large classes so they dont know if you're there or not! :)
even tho UNCC food is from Chartwells too, I've eaten there. its 1000x better.
People are fuckin preppy as hell. not cool.
longer walk to classes. and i'm lazy
more expensive to go there by about $1000.
they have a separate college of education. more focused programs
i can double major with my teaching licensure and graduate in 4 years.
i can live with Travis.
2 hrs from home. 2hrs from Asheville. (I'm still in love with the city of Asheville)
SO much larger than my highschool. 16,000 undergrads.

I dont really like the preppi-ness of most of the people i've seen at Charlotte. but it definitely has its advantages ESPECIALLY in academics.

i dunno. i'm still confused. i'm tryin to objective in this and not let my feelings for travis sway my decision even tho we all know they are the basis for me considering leaving.

well just leave a comment. i want your opinions.
