I met Paul Plekon and his girlfriend, Cate, this
evening for coffee at a great place here. We spent
2 hours catching up and enjoying each other's company.
It's a blessing for me to have such good friends as these.
They keep me in the loop, keep me tuned in to what's
modern. And they don't make me feel like I'm an old
codger, rather a viable, interesting person in my own
right. That makes them pretty special.
We set about making some plans to attempt to celebrate
Orthodox Easter together. What a sense of family and
belonging this gives me.
Went to Annunciation Vigil Liturgy at St. S'.s last night.
I hadn't received Eucharist from Father M since I was
chrismated. I have been going back there for Vespers
on Saturday's for about the last 8 months. Several months
ago he invite me to join 2 other people for Matins three
days a week. The other two are also parishioners at the
Greek church where I go. It is good to be reconciled with
Father and to be friends again and share the Faith.
I went to my parish for the Annunciation Liturgy and for
brunch after. Also helped the Emeritus get his retired
clergy newsletter out.
I just am puttering around in retirement but the bulk of
what makes up my life surrounds the church. It is just
a lovely way to live.
