Happy Halloween/Samhain/Dress-up-get-chocolate Day :)

Items of note:

***) I participated in Run Like Hell on Friday, October 24. It's just a wee little 5K race, which for The Beau would have been a breeze, but he went with me :) I completed the thing in about 40 minutes, but I did run as much as I could. And it was actually a lot of fun seeing how many people dressed up. So far I'm still sticking with running (although I am much remiss with adding any kind of weight training to my routine), and am making it out about 2x a week. I am finally improving a wee bit, but I have a long way to go. My current goal is just to be able to run a mile straight and not want to die :P

***) I have my first midterm in Psych and the Law on Monday evening. I'm not too terribly worried about it - 120 questions, multiple choice, and the subject material is pretty interesting, so I've actually been paying attention ;) But on Sunday I need to do some heavy review. I think I'm going to keep on with Psych courses and try to get those knocked out; then I can focus on the extra humanities courses that I need. At one class/semester, I'm looking at a long time in school, but it's fun, and it would be really really cool to have 2 bachelor's degrees :)

***) I'm actually learning fun stuff at work now. I've written a few basic stored procedures in SQL, and, um... I *get* it. Just like how I always learn, there's a little switch in my head that eventually flips, and I just understand how things work. I understand cursors, and every time I write a query, I learn something else about how to use SQL code. It's fun, and it's a valuable skill for the future.

***) My favorite kitty at STAF passed away recently. Her name was Ali, and she was FIV+, had a skin condition that made her lose most of her fur, and had lymphoma. She looked like a little rat-cat. And every time I saw her, she was sweet and purring and alert, and just needing some loves, so every Friday I was at STAF, I made it a point to go pick her up out of her cage and cuddle her for a little while. The last time I was able to be at STAF, she had just finished a steroid treatment, and looked like she was having a little trouble breathing, but it was explained as likely being a side effect of the treatment. She was in great spirits; actually out of her cage, wandering the halls, finding cozy spots to curl up in, and she actually stood on her hind legs to put her paws on my leg, asking for a little picky-up :) She was around 16 years old, so between her age and conditions it was inevitable she would pass relatively soon; but I'm glad that my last memory of her is in good spirits.
