Busy, busy, busy, busy, busy.
I've found at least one cat at STAF that I *know* I want. I picked her up today and loved her up and was rewarded with quiet squeaks and kitten-size purrs. She's adorable, though, and small and cute, and I suspect someone else may adopt her between now and next week - I found out today that even though I'm a volunteer, I still have to go through the same adoption procedures as everyone else. I'm still so hesitant about searching for a new cat that I want The Beau to see any of them that I'm considering, and he won't have a chance to volunteer with me until next Friday. BUT, STAF has a rigorous adoption committee, so I know that if that little girl gets adopted before I have a chance (and even if I do, she'll have to be "held" until I move into the new place), she will be going to a good home. We'll see. If I'm meant to have her, The Beau will like her and I will fill out paperwork next Saturday (open adoption days).
I've had so much stuff to do after work these past 2 weeks - dinners and happy hours at work and running and class. This weekend is filled with so very many activities, and next week is rapidly becoming filled, as well. The Beau's mother moves out to CA the 2nd weekend of June; the following weekend is a friend's birthday party AND The Beau and my move into his mother's house. It's a wonderful deal for me, as my rent dips WAY down, but of course living together has led us to a variety of financial "discussions", which by "discussion", I mean anything from "mild tiff" to "outright argument". We're figuring it out, though. He's never been in a situation where he shared finances, and it takes a different mindset - "planning for OUR future" versus "planning for ME".
I'm still throwing off the curve in my one class, though I only got a 90% on my last test. It was about plants and plant anatomy, though, which didn't interest me quite as much as all the details of how cells work and where energy comes from. (And yes, 90% is still an A and I still skewed the class average, but I got a 97% and a 94% on my last 2 tests :) )
Random happy things:
My boss got promoted at work.
My review, when I finally get the official version, is going to be very good.
The Beau accidentally got an Associate's degree from Xavier :) He's in a Bachelor's program, but his adviser discovered that he had enough credits to qualify for an Associate's. It is SO nice to see his hard work pay off :)
Anniversathingy this past weekend.
The Beau's tattoo last Saturday.
My new tattoo coming next Saturday.
No work on Monday.
Vacation in early June.
KITTY PURRS.
We'll be moving into a house.
I'm in the middle of a mildly stressful and mildly manic social streak; I love these. It's the most outgoing I ever get and I spend a lot of time *not* wanting to hide away. Of course I suspect part of it is generated from a strong desire to do *anything* besides pack all my crap, 'cause moving... ugh. MOVING. Hate.
Enjoying running with The Beau.
2 of the volunteers I work with, who are utterly awesome - total cat people and, like The Beau and I, uninterested in children.
There's actually a lot of really good stuff going on right now and I'm thrilled, for me and for a lot of other people! But at the same time there is just so *much* stuff going on right now that I know sooner or later I'm going to crash and spend a few nights hidden away from everything. But it's not here yet, so I guess I'll ride the social streak for now :)
