your privacy settings don't allow me to send you a reply to your PM, so i'm answering you here. for magazine translations, i just read what it says and then type out what it says in English, if that's what you mean by how i do them xD
yes, i have been studying Japanese for about 7 years now. and when i don't know how to read something or what something means, i use jisho.org to look up the meaning.
well i actually took classes from high school all the way throughout university, and that's probably the best way to start, but if you don't have those classes that you can take, i think the Genki textbooks might be helpful and straightforward for beginning learners to pick up grammar. kanji on the other hand will probably take a lot of reading to remember them. but jisho.org is a really good source for looking up kanji. once you're comfortable enough with the grammar, you can try to slowly translate maybe magazine articles and eventually you'll start to remember vocabulary and kanji that gets used a lot. hope this is helpful! :)
aa i see, ok i'll start on you've said. try to buy Genki textbooks right away. :D and start to learn the basics. i'll try to do the kanji reading next time. :) THanks for the advice!!! i hope i don't disturb you for asking such thing. ^^
well before you start doing kanji, have you learned how to read hiragana and katakana yet? xD cuz that's the most basic thing you must learn before you try to read and write in Japanese.
hai~ i understand :D i'm planning to take extra lessons this school year. i'll start my japanese lessons. :D thanks again for the help, by the way, is the genki textbook you're talking about is the one that is color orange? :)
