Building stuff out of paper is fun. Last year, for my dad's birthday I built him a paper version of
Disneyland's castle. He's a real big fan of Disneyland and loves the castle. He has so many figurines of the castle...and I seem to remember making him one out of clay a few years ago.
For my mom's birthday I made her a
pop-up card. It's really cool. I plan on making another card for their anniversary. I don't know which one I'll make yet, probably the one with the bird in the birdcage.
I've also made a few things for myself. I made myself
Jack Sparrow's compass, it's really cool. While I was obsessed with Half-Life I made a
rollermine...it's awesome. Rolls around everywhere. Didn't take me tooo long to make. 2 days I think. I also made the Half-Life 2HEV suit. That one was a little harder to make, since...um, there aren't instructions. I messed up on the back, couldn't get the legs to connect properly. He had a hole back there for a little while until I realized what I did wrong and fixed it. It's not as neat as some of the other models. It does stand on it's own however.
After that I made the cutest little model for the game
Portal. I made one for me and one for my brother. Only took like an hour each for those ones, and most of that time was cutting the pieces out. I wonder where it went, it is on my desk somewhere. Ah, it is behind the Rollermine. Good to know.
I want to make the
Wicked Wench, but I remember how long it took to make the castle, and am not sure I really want to devote that much time and energy into making it. That...and the model I really wanted to make was the Black Pearl. Was in a Pirates of the Caribbean mood. I mean, the Wicked Wench is from the Pirates of the Caribbean, but it is from the ride not the movie. I looked around, but there really aren't a whole lot of sailing ships made out of paper.
Oh yes...for Christmas I made my brother an
Indiana Jones made out of paper. It was cool. He really liked it. I think he liked it even more than...whatever else it was I got him. Some game I think. Couldn't have been that good, since I don't even remember it. Oh, right, it was the expansion to Neverwinter Nights 2.
Let's see...I think that's all the paper models I made. It was funny. For Christmas, I got a ream of paper. That was cool. It was nice thick cardstock perfect for building models. But seriously, I got paper for Christmas. And I asked for it. Hah.
So, now I'm trying to decide if I want to make something else. I mean, I would be interested in making a pirate ship, but the Wicked Wench is a little big and might take up too much room. I might make a dirigible, er...airship. I found a few models that might be neat. The ones on
this page would be easy...but they have a large logo for a company I have never heard of on them.
This one reminds me of Castle Wulfenbach. Might have to make that one. And then perhaps the
mooring mast....just because...um...airships need someplace to moor. xD
But, I've just started looking. I'm sure I'll find something better...then again, it could be like looking for sailing ships...very had to do. Seriously, I couldn't find any good free sailing ships. And I bet there are even less airships. Makes me sad.
EDIT: Well, here's an
airship I hadn't found earlier....but...it has wheels. Pretty colors though.
EDIT EDIT: Now that I look at the picture some more, I don't think those are wheels but...um...fans? Uh...propellers! That's the word I was looking for.
