Yes, I'm Japanese although I'm an American born Japanese so I am very un-Japanese in some perspectives. Like always being late and not being overly formal. ^-^;;;

You're young... -_-;;; Lucky you, you are definitely Heisei. So you are a generation younger than us. -Sighs- I hate this... I'm still 18 but I'm already 18, I so don't want to go into my 20s... I'm going to be like KAT-TUN, and start calling high-schoolers young. TT^TT

Uh... Japan still has a time period system in place. They count eras by the amount of time the emperor is in office... Each time period is from the time he becomes emperor until he dies. So Showa is a a time period when he was an emperor. I was born in Showa 62, the 62nd year of his term. And he died an year or two after I was born so someone else became emperor thus the creation of the Heisei period, your era. The downfall of that is that the Heisei period isn't going to last long not to kill the current emperor off or anything but because the last emperor lived so long, the current emperor is already old and it's still his 17th year this year. I don't think Heisei is going to be as long as Showa... ^-^;;;

So there's the enlightenment and my short Japanese history? lecture...

Hmmm~ I'm Chinese but I'm born in Singapore. Which is majorly Chinese. World, where is my exotic background? D: Though my parents are from Hong Kong, and when I was born I was born a British overseas citizen or some weird thing like that. So now I hold a British passport, a Singaporean passport, and a Hong Kong I.D. It's quite fascinating, really.

...Awwwr. *pets* Eighteen isn't that old! My brother's twentyone. Like, um, Junno is.

Is there also any specific naming system? Like, is each era named after the Emperor? And if the current emperor dies, then I suppose I would be hybrid of sorts of two eras? Or would I still be Heisei? Oh, I would.

Thanks! :D

I'm very happy to have finally found some livejournal that hosts akame fanfictions.. I've been drawn to this pairing since I started watching gokusen 2, and I'm desperately searching for ryuxhayato fanfics, too.. btw, My name's Kyio, and I'm italian ^^ I apologize because my english is not very good, but I hope you'll bear with me ^^ if you want to correct me, that's more than fine.. actually, it would be really nice.

Well, now I'm going to read all your fanfics, and review them properly :P

PS: Most eras were once named after a particular event, for instance, the HAKUCHI era was called so, because of a gift that the emperor received ( a white pheasant. Hakuchi means in fact "white pheasant"). As for now, I'm not too sure it's still like that. And back then, not every era finished after the death of the emperor; in fact more than one emperor reigned in more than one era ^^''.. but now they effectively change name as a new emperor is designated. Hope I was clear ^^

Hugs

Kyio
