Home at long last

Apr 06, 2009 22:01

One moment, they were in Econtra. Miyako waved farewell to everyone one last time, keeping a tight grip on her fiance's hand. To finally be going home after all of these months. She could hardly believe it. Was this was the older Chosen had felt like when they'd been in the Digital World with no way to go home all those years ago ( Read more... )

Misawa stood ill-at-ease, trying not to be annoyed that nobody seemed to be paying any attention to him. After all, none of them had any way of knowing who he was, and they were obviously friends of Miyako's and glad to see her, but... wasn't anyone at least curious as to what he was doing there?

A throat was cleared behind Misawa suddenly, and Izumi Koushirou asked crisply, "Might I ask your name and what you have to do with Miyako's disappearance or return?"

Miyako turned at that, and decided to let Daichi handle his own introduction. She thought he and Koushirou would get along, after all.

Hawkmon, on the other hand, wasn't quite so calm. He flapped over to hover in front of Misawa. "Did you have something to do with her vanishing? Where have you been keeping her? Who are you?"

"Hawkmon!" Miyako sighed. This wasn't precisely how she'd envisioned her reunion with her friends.

"Please! Let's not get carried away here!" said Misawa, holding up his hands protectively. He had a feeling that beak was sharp, and the claws didn't look much friendlier. "My name is Misawa Daichi, and I have nothing to do with her disappearance other than that I was captured by the same group of people, and nothing to do with her reappearance other than that she was kind enough to ask me to accompany her home."

Miyako tugged Hawkmon away from him and shot an annoyed look all around. "Everyone, this is my fiance." She didn't have a skateboard on her, but the look on her face indicated quite clearly that she wasn't going to need one. "We were both abducted by creatures from another world to fight a war for them, along with lots of people from other worlds."

She could already see the excitement rising in several sets of eyes, and before the inevitable questions could rise up, she kept on talking. "And we finished it off just earlier today, and I think we both want to sit down somewhere and get something to eat and maybe get a little rest. Then we can tell you everything else." She reached out and grabbed Daichi's hand firmly. "Daichi, this is my Digimon partner, Hawkmon. I've told you about him before. He usually has better manners."

Hawkmon, at least, had the grace to look ashamed of himself. "A pleasure to meet you."

Misawa gave the Digimon a polite bow. "I'm sure we will become friendlier once we are better acquainted." He turned to address the others. "And yes, I am engaged to Miyako. That is why I followed her here from my own world." One reason, anyway. It didn't really seem like the time to start pelting people with questions about the nature of the Digital World.

Miyako glanced quickly towards Ken when he said that, but couldn't tell if the former Digimon Kaiser had any reaction to it at all. She still remembered what Saioh had told her, and she really, really wanted to avoid that destiny. Not that she didn't love Daichi; she did. She just didn't love Ken, and didn't want to. She had too many ambitions to turn them all in for diapers and laundry.

One by one, the various Chosen and their partners introduced themselves to Misawa, and it was rather obvious that some of them had their own questions to ask about where he came from, Koushirou and Ken in particular.

"I need to go see my parents soon," Miyako said once the introductions were over with. Though, she would have much preferred to put that off a bit. At least until they could get something to eat.

Misawa listened closely as each of them made their introductions, carefully filing their names away for later. He was determined to stay on their good sides as much as humanly possible.

"I'm going to need to see your family soon too, I think," he said. Not that he wasn't a little nervous about the idea.

Miyako had a bit of a mental twitch at the thought herself. "Right." This was going to be...interesting. Her brother and sisters were really going to want to interrogate him. "Is there a restaurant or something near here? It's been a long time since breakfast." Maybe getting something to eat would help them figure out how to approach them the best.

"Digitamamon's is just over the hill there," Daisuke said, gesturing briefly. "Come on, let's go!" And he suited actions to words, as quickly as he ever had.

Misawa glanced inquiringly at Miyako.

"The excitable type, I take it?" he remarked.

She laughed a little; it was good to be back with her friends, really. She'd missed them a lot.

"Yeah. That's Daisuke for you." She glanced over to see Ken following Daisuke, Wormmon and V-mon chatting companionably as they walked. She didn't want to jump to any conclusions, but...well, whatever. Her stomach needed attention more than anything else. "Come on, you'll love the food there."

"I have no doubt about that whatsoever," he said fervently. He had realized that he couldn't actually remember when he had last eaten, but he was reasonably certain that it had been too long, with too much going on between then and now. Whatever was coming next, he was sure he'd handle it better after he'd had a square meal. He started to follow the rest of the crowd. "What's a Digitamamon?"

Miyako grinned a little at the question. "Would you believe me if I told you a talking egg?"

Misawa gave the question his serious consideration.

"It wouldn't be a lot stranger than anything else we've seen lately."

"True. Well, that's what he is. He runs a pretty good restaurant, too."

"In that case, he's all right with me," said Misawa. It was bound to be better than foraging for meals in the wilds of the Duel Monsters worlds.
