heh...so I've been watching horror movies all month on tv in anticipation of the night of all nights. Samhain! Damn I love Halloween. I must admit I lament the loss of the scare factor. Trick or treating is becoming an evil thing, and the luscious year long process of thinking up, finding, making, putting together, and reveling in a scary or even decent costume is becomming a lost art. Once again I rebeled against my mother and her "you are to old to trick or treat" bullshit. I spent almost $100 and several hours getting my son ready. He looked awesome! There were people at the mall stopping us to take pictures! I am going to drench myself in the joy of my son being young. He is growing up so fast. *sigh* He had to shave before we could put his makeup on last night.
Lela couldn't have a Halloween party at her school because, and I quote, "I don't want to impose pagan beliefs or idolotry on those student that are christian" WTF!?!?!? Ok first of all this holiday is technically Samhain. A celtic celebration of the dead. Ummmm...yeah. Pegan. Christianity in its efforts to swallow any and all cultures and beliefs not its own, came up with All Hallows Evening. A day dedicated to the saints. Several evolutions and cultural injections later we have this current sorry excuse of a holiday. Did anyone else leave a plate of food out for the spirits of the dead? Will anyone else be visiting graves today? Most likely not. Scare me damn it! I am sick of societies systematic desensitization. Give me back my damn holiday!
Ok so I forgot to carve my pumpkin. Sue me. I bought it, and otherwise decorated the place. It's not my fault no one trick or treats anymore. Anyone need candy?
Ok rant over. School is back on track. I failed the test on Monday but I expected that, but all my work is turned in. I am even getting some of it back already! Yeah Mrs. Prince! Five weeks left in this semester. That's 11 clinicals and 2 tests. I am off to return my nose to the grind stone.
